Named after Enzo Ferrari’s son, the Ferrari 246 Dino is the first mid-engined Ferrari, made more affordable for a wider audience. At the time of its introduction, some did not even consider it a “real Ferrari”. However, in retrospect, the Dino with its fluid style and sensuous silhouette frequently ranks in the top ten Ferraris of all time. Designed by Pininfarina, the Dino 246 entered production in 1969 and left in 1974 with a little more than 3,700 examples ever exiting the factory in Maranello. There are two main types of Dino 246s. The first is the GT, which is a typical Ferrari Berlinetta, meaning a coupé like the one presented here. The other is the GTS, which features a black removal roof, essentially a Targa top. Both were equipped with the 2.4-liter V6 mid-engine producing a captivating metallic sound and an amazing performance for an output of “only” 195 horsepower. Here for sale is a beautiful Dino GT that was bought new in 1973 (meaning one of the latest produced) by a Belgian gentleman who remained its unique owner until today. Dinos 246 with original papers (original invoice !) and books, with a known history from new and with matching numbers are very rare to find on the market. The chassis number 06740 was ordered in Yellow Fly, the official color of all Belgian racing cars before the sixties. It is equipped with its original black leather seats and its original wheels. The owner used it sparingly and always parked it in a garage. The odometer reads little more than 64,000 kilometers after 50 years of driving pleasure. The Dino has been regularly serviced. In 2013, a complete restauration of the body was done by Carrosserie Dumont (Liege, BE) following typical rust concerns with a steel monocoque. The restoration works were carried out professionally according to the expertise report that followed. The side sills have been completely replaced and the body completely repainted in its original factory color. Now, 10 years later, the paint still looks very good. The Dino starts immediately and runs well. The engine got a big maintenance two years ago. As the proud first owner of this beautiful Ferrari 246 GT, you could possess a nice piece of automotive heritage. Interested?
