BMW began creating the 8-Series in the 1980s, and in today’s dollars, the equivalent of $900 million was spent in development costs. The E31 made its debut at the 1989 Frankfurt Auto Show and the car was immediately a hit with its low-aerodynamic lines and impressive V-12 engine. Black Horse Garage is proud to represent this 1997 BMW 850 Ci. This 850 has had nearly $35,000 worth of restoration and service work performed on it in the last three years, including here at Black Horse Garage. The previous owner is a BMW collector and knowledgeable enthusiast of the 8-Series. He meticulously maintained and serviced the car and it comes with service records that show work and purchases on: suspension, engine performance, accessories, C-31 front bumper, and Alpina wheels to name a few. One of the first things you notice is how sleek and jet-like the 850 looks, especially in Cosmo Black. The designer of the car, Klaus Kapitza, was aiming for a design with the lowest drag coefficient the team could construct (0.29 coefficient of drag). The German manufacturer gave this grand tourer a small grille and flip-up headlights to complete the look. Another thing that makes the 850 Ci stand out is its 5.4-liter V-12 engine. This one comes with the M73B54 engine producing 322 horsepower. It is driven by an automatic transmission and has less than 60,000 miles on it. On the inside, it is a fitting luxury coupe from the 1990s. The 850 has heated leather seats, automatic air conditioning, traction control, power windows and locks, and power moon roof. It also has a Blaupunkt stereo with an SD card slot, USB port, and a 6-CD changer in the trunk. This decade was big on hidden features too like a change holder on the driver door, ashtray that pops out to empty, and cupholders tucked away in the glovebox. If you would like to make an appointment to see this 1997 BMW 850 Ci in person, please call or text [hidden information] or send an email to [hidden information]. Highlights: Nearly $35,000 in meticulous preservation and service over last 3 years with full documents and records Last model year for the North American market C-31 bumper Alpina wheels
