20 years of Alfa Romeo Brera

On the occasion of the Brera's 20th anniversary, our friend Antoine Kohler graced us with a very welcome tribute by sending us the photos of the official presentation taken by him in person.

Geneva-Palexpo, 1 March 2005: presentation of the 939 project

The Brera prototype presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2002 caused a wave of enthusiasm among the public and the trade press. Moreover, in the same year, this stunning creation won prestigious international awards, including the title of ‘Best of Show’ at the Concours d'Elégance de la Villa d'Este. Three years later, the dream will become reality once again in Geneva. On Tuesday, 1 March 2005 at 1 p.m., the 939 project will be unveiled in a world premiere with the presentation of the brand's new productions:

The Brera GT 2+2 and the 159 Saloon

Twenty years on, I am delighted to share with the members of the Club 939 Privilege this reportage with my photos of this exceptional day. The two novelties were presented simultaneously in two different pavilions of the stands:

  • Italdesign-Giugiaro: Brera, fit without interior and a 159

  • Alfa Romeo: Brera with V6 Holden 3.2 L engine and two 159s

As we will learn later, we witnessed the latest episode in a 45-year merger between Giorgietto Giugiaro and Alfa Romeo that began with the 2000 Sprint in 1960. Together, they wrote the great pages of the brand's history and produced 7 mass-produced Alfa Romeos and 7 unforgettable prototypes.
